George Gershwin. Hoagy Carmichael. Cole Porter. The Great American Songbook was a huge influence on me as a musician -- particularly when I heard these songs interpreted by brilliant jazz pianists like Erroll Garner, Art Tatum, and Earl "Fatha" Hines. For Scott's latest piano album, STANDARDS & MELODIES, he recorded his take on 16 of his favorite nostalgic melodies from this era - songs like "After You've Gone," "Skylark," "Moon River," and more. A great melody remains timeless, so Soctt did his best to honor the composers' intentions, while incorporating his own jazz influences and improvisations.
